Structuralia [eco interior gardens] 2013

This was a team project done together with: Thomas Courboin, Jonathan Boemi, Ida Kovaleva.

THE STORY: The premise of Structuralia was to envision a future scenario where standard building materials became inaccessible. The goal of the project was to inspire users to create on their own, using local and natural resources.

DESIGN & MAKE: For such an extreme scenario, the team explored innovative materials and techniques to create a strong and biodegradable structure. Made of hexagonal blocks, the structure imitates the honeycomb using a hybrid of ancient techniques: the compression of earth and natural fibers, which are then waterproofed with the use of oil and beeswax. Using this technology the team created a vertical garden.

WHAT’S IMPORTANT: totally ecological, re-usable, modular
